On October 1, the Robert B. Carleson Eagle Fund sponsored a table and program advertisement at the Good Scout of the Year dinner for the Long Beach Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The Council honored BP West Coast Products with its Good Scout Award for 2009.
Robert B. Carleson Eagle Fund Director of Development Hans Zeiger attended the event, and he was joined by ACRU donors, including W. John Valentine, a former Navy Commander and newspaper editor, and his son John A. Valentine (pictured here with Hans, right top).
Also pictured with Hans (right bottom) is 10-year old Webelos Scout Zach, who was seated at the Robert B. Carleson Eagle Fund table.
"A Hutchinson (KS) teenager determined not to be stopped by Down Syndrome and speech problems has become an Eagle Scout. Sixteen-year-old Lucas Wondra, a freshman at Hutchinson High School, received the Boy Scouts of America's highest rank this week from Troop 301 in Hutchinson. His parents, Korey and Leann Wondra, say Lucas earned 28 merit badges on the way to his Eagle Scout. They say their son was able to fulfill the many requirements of the Eagle Scout despite needing a PDA to talk. Leann Wondra says the troop, Lucas' teachers and many others encouraged and supported him in his Eagle Scout project. And Korey Wondra says he believes the troop also benefited by having Lucas as a troop member"

"Thousands of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from across the state swarmed Fort Lewis this weekend for a four-day campout, the largest Scout event ever held in Washington. The second WashJam, organized by Pacific Harbors Council and Chief Seattle Council, commemorates the upcoming 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America, established in 1910. More than 6,000 Scouts, leaders and family members were in attendance, according to Pat Craven, director of finance and marketing."

"Some north Georgia Boy Scouts completed quite a feat with their feet in June: They hiked 100 miles in just five days on the rugged Bartram Trail. The 11 young men from Troop 467 discovered that blisters were more of a problem than bears. And that motto, 'Be Prepared,' was critical to their success."
